AEW Collision on September 19 delivered a packed night of wrestling from Charleston, West Virginia, with two championship defenses, major confrontations and several matches officially set up for AEW All Out.
With All Out just one week away, there was little room for wasted motion. By the end of the night, Darby Allin and Andrade El Ídolo had retained their titles, Jon Moxley had gained momentum heading into his World Championship match with Will Ospreay, and the Death Riders had created another major problem for Andrade.
Darby Allin Survives Myron Reed
The night opened with TNT Champion Darby Allin defending his championship against Myron Reed of The Rascalz.
Reed pushed Allin throughout the match, but the champion ultimately found the opening he needed and hit the Coffin Drop to score the victory.
Allin’s win kept the TNT Championship around his waist heading into All Out and continued his run as one of AEW’s most unpredictable champions.
Afterward, Allin also addressed his opportunity to become a potential challenger for the AEW World Tag Team Championship alongside Steven Borden.
PAC Defeats Adam Priest
PAC continued his momentum with a victory over Adam Priest.
But the bigger story came immediately afterward.
As PAC was leaving the ring, AEW National Champion Andrade El Ídolo appeared.
The confrontation was the beginning of a much bigger development later in the evening.
PAC clearly had Andrade in his sights, and the tension between the two made it obvious that their paths were about to collide.
Andrade Retains the National Championship
One of the night’s biggest matches saw Andrade El Ídolo defend the AEW National Championship against Daniel Garcia.
Garcia entered the match after winning the Butcher Battle Royale the previous week, earning himself the championship opportunity. Andrade, meanwhile, was looking to continue his reign with another successful defense.
The match delivered a physical contest between two wrestlers with very different approaches.
Andrade ultimately managed to defeat Garcia and retain the National Championship.
But the celebration didn’t last long.
PAC and the Death Riders Attack Andrade
Following Andrade’s victory, the Death Riders attacked the National Champion.
PAC then stepped forward and challenged Andrade to defend the National Championship against him at All Out.
The challenge was made official, giving the National Championship another major match for the Chicago event.
For Andrade, the problem isn’t simply that PAC wants his championship.
He now has to deal with PAC and the Death Riders immediately after fighting through another demanding title defense.
Mike Bailey Beats Wheeler Yuta
“Speedball” Mike Bailey picked up another important victory when he defeated Wheeler Yuta.
Bailey’s victory was impressive, but Yuta wasn’t interested in simply accepting the loss.
Yuta attacked Bailey after the match, bringing additional chaos into the situation.
The attack eventually brought out The Dogs and the Death Riders.
Then the Bang Bang Gang hit the ring.
What followed was a massive brawl involving multiple wrestlers, referees and security personnel as AEW struggled to regain control.
The confrontation set up a Tailgate Brawl in Chicago for the following weekend.
The Women’s Division Gets a Quick Showcase
Mina Shirakawa and Queen Aminata teamed up to defeat Emily Jaye and Georgia South.
The match was brief compared with some of the night’s bigger contests, but it continued the ongoing development between Shirakawa and Aminata while giving both wrestlers another opportunity to establish momentum.
Moxley vs. Wentz Headlines the Night
The main event featured AEW Continental Champion Jon Moxley against Zachary Wentz in a Continental Championship Eliminator.
Wentz had an opportunity to earn a future shot at Moxley’s championship if he could pull off the upset.
Instead, Moxley continued his momentum heading into his massive showdown with Will Ospreay at All Out.
Moxley defeated Wentz with the Death Rider, closing out the show with another victory for the Continental Champion.
The victory was important because Moxley enters All Out with plenty of confidence, while Ospreay will be looking to finally overcome one of his biggest obstacles.
All Out Takes Shape
By the time Collision went off the air, several major pieces of the All Out card had fallen into place.
The biggest developments included:
- Andrade El Ídolo vs. PAC for the AEW National Championship
- Jon Moxley vs. Will Ospreay for the AEW World Championship
- Bang Bang Gang vs. The Dogs/Death Riders in the Tailgate Brawl
- Darby Allin continuing his TNT Championship reign
The September 19 episode therefore served an important purpose: it wasn’t simply another weekly show.
It was a bridge to one of AEW’s biggest events of the fall.
