A woman who told authorities she was watching TikTok videos when she hit and killed a man with her car will serve some jail time and years of probation.
Mariska Kay Nunn, 21, was sentenced in Becker County Court on one count of criminal vehicular homicide. Nunn will serve 180 days(six months) in the Becker County Jail, followed by eight years of probation.
As previously reported, Nunn was charged after striking a pedestrian with her car back on Sept. 3, 2024, in Detroit Lakes.
Nunn had reportedly been driving back to her house when she struck a man she had not seen, critically injuring him.
The man was still alert when Detroit Lakes Police arrived at the scene, and he was taken to the Detroit Lakes Airport, where he later died of his injuries.
While speaking to police, Nunn allegedly told officers her phone had been in her lap when she was driving, but later admitted to watching a video on TikTok when the accident happened.
