Triple H has addressed Trick Williams and his WWE United States Championship victory over Sami Zayn at WrestleMania 42.
With Night 2 of WrestleMania 42 now in the history books, Trick Williams is one of the stars who left as a newly crowned champion, defeating Sami Zayn for the WWE United States Championship.
Not only did Williams have his WrestleMania debut on April 19, but his victory also saw the former two-time NXT Champion pick up his first main roster championship since his call-up earlier this year.
Addressing the victory on Twitter, Triple H shared a photo alongside Williams and the rapper Lil Yachty, who accompanied the star to the ring, writing:
“Added some gold to those lemon pepper steppers. #AndNew”
The entrance itself was something to behold, with Yachty hyping up the crowd before Williams made his way to the ring, followed by an impressively lengthy white train that formed part of his ring attire.
No Trick When It Comes To Williams
Signing a WWE contract back in February 2021, Trick Williams would rapidly make his mark in NXT, siding with Carmelo Hayes, with that relationship eventually ending with a chairshot from the latter.
A journey that has seen him become a two-time NXT Champion and a former North American Champion, there was something about Williams that made the fans stop and watch. Perhaps it was the instant charisma, demonstrated in every match and the promo, or the intensity with which he approaches his career, but there’s an ‘It Factor’ that the WWE star clearly has in abundance.
Other WWE stars have clearly seen the same thing, with Roman Reigns recently naming Williams among the stars he wants to face in the future.
Williams didn’t do this alone, though, and it’s something that he has recognized in a past interview, naming Ilja Dragunov as a fellow star who pushed him to the “next level“. A showman of a star, Williams proved he was far more than just hype during a feud with Dragunov that saw him capture the NXT Championship.
Then there’s the subject of the “lemon pepper steppers”, the term that Triple H used in his congratulatory tweet. Often, phrases get thrown around in WWE with little traction among the fans and fellow stars, yet Williams has turned his reference to his footwear into a fun phrase that rolls off the tongue.
Promo skills, in-ring ability, and a great look: the future for Trick Williams looks bright, just on these three aspects alone. Picking up his first main roster championship is surely just the start of a whole new journey.
