Organizers for the Basilica Block Party say the event has concluded, with the last block party being held in 2024.
Last year, the block party was canceled, with Basilica of Saint Mary Pastor Daniel Griffith saying plans for the next year would be shared “soon.”
But, the event’s website was updated at some point to say, “The final Block Party was held in 2024, concluding an incredible run and leaving a lasting legacy in our community.”
The event has been delayed for several years since the pandemic canceled the music festival in 2020. It came back in 2021 but then went on hiatus for two years, 2022 and 2023, before returning in the summer of 2024.
The decades-old music festival, which started in 1995, normally takes place right outside the church building, but the event was moved to Boom Island in 2024 and held in August instead of July, the month it had always occurred before 2020. The 2021 edition was held in September.
