A video from a recent San Antonio Spurs home game has gone viral on social media, showing a woman appearing to type a message questioning how Hispanic fans could afford tickets while calling them “crazy,” prompting widespread calls to identify her.
The roughly 10-second clip, which originated on TikTok before being shared widely on X, shows an older woman in a houndstooth top seated in the stands. She holds a smartphone in a pink case and types what appears to be a text or note reading, “A lot of crazy hispanic fans” followed by “All Hispanic! How can they afford it.”
An overlaid caption on the video reads: “If your gma was at the game tonight, ew.” The person filming, seated behind her, captured the phone screen as Spurs players were visible on the court in the background.
The video was reposted Friday on X by the account @TheBirdHouseTG, a San Antonio-area Spurs fan group, with the comment “This really angered me… .” It has amassed hundreds of thousands of views, thousands of likes and hundreds of replies and reposts within hours.
Users on X and other platforms condemned the remarks as racist, noting San Antonio’s large Hispanic population and the accessibility of Spurs tickets. Some replies called the woman’s comments reflective of outdated stereotypes and expressed frustration that she would question Hispanic fans’ presence or means at a home game in a majority-Hispanic city.
As of Friday afternoon, neither the woman in the video nor the original TikTok poster had been publicly identified. Social media users have begun circulating the clip further and speculating on her identity, with some urging others to come forward if they recognize her from the arena.
Spurs officials did not immediately respond to requests for comment. The team has previously condemned racism at games and promoted inclusivity.
The incident echoes past viral videos from sports events highlighting fan behavior, though no arrests or formal complaints have been reported in this case.
