Paige Shiver, the former executive assistant to ex-University of Michigan football coach Sherrone Moore, is considering legal action against Moore and potentially the university amid allegations of prolonged harassment and manipulation in the workplace.
Shiver’s attorney, Andrew M. Stroth, confirmed the possibility in a statement to TMZ Sports following Moore’s recent plea deal in a related criminal case. Stroth expressed disappointment with the outcome and called on Michigan to address what he described as “painful missteps” in its athletic department.
“Paige was left pressured, intimidated, and unable to escape conduct that should never occur in any workplace — let alone at a public university,” Stroth said. He added that Shiver is exploring all available options to seek justice and promote systemic change, noting the University of Michigan’s status as one of the world’s leading academic institutions.
The developments stem from a scandal that unfolded in December 2025. Michigan fired Moore for cause after an internal investigation uncovered an inappropriate relationship with a staff member later identified as Shiver, his executive assistant. University policy prohibits supervisors from initiating intimate relationships with those they oversee and requires disclosure; responsibility falls primarily on the supervisor.
Hours after his termination on Dec. 10, 2025, Moore was arrested following an incident at Shiver’s home. Authorities alleged he broke in, grabbed butter knives and scissors, and threatened self-harm while blaming Shiver, saying things like “I am going to kill myself. I’m going to make you watch. My blood is on your hands. You ruined my life.”
Initial charges included home invasion, stalking and breaking and entering. Last week, Moore entered a no-contest plea to reduced misdemeanor counts: malicious use of an electronic communication device in a domestic relationship and trespassing. The more serious charges were dropped, with sentencing set for next month.
The judge in the case was very concerned that the police had illegally obtained the arrest warrant and some of the statements by Shiver’s previous lawyer were proven to be false.
Shiver is no longer employed by the university; her contract expired and was not renewed earlier in March 2026, according to athletic department sources.
No lawsuit has been filed as of now, and neither Moore nor the University of Michigan has issued public comments on the potential civil action in the latest reports. The case has drawn widespread attention, highlighting issues of workplace dynamics, power imbalances and accountability in college athletics.
