Jaxon Smith-Njigba, the current NFL Offensive Player of the Year, has agreed to a four-year, $168.6 million contract extension with the Seattle Seahawks, making him the highest-paid wide receiver in NFL history.
The contract sets records for a wide receiver with an average annual salary of $42.15 million and a guaranteed salary of almost $120 million.
The two-time Pro Bowler is now contractually bound to Seattle through the 2031 campaign thanks to this new deal. Smith-Njigba’s fifth-year option for 2027, which is valued at about $23.9 million, was already exercised by the Seahawks last week.
The most recent development in the wide receiver market is Smith-Njigba’s contract with the Seahawks, which will affect the Los Angeles Rams, a division foe who may be negotiating a Puka Nacua extension this offseason. In 2026, Nacua’s contract will come to an end.
With an average yearly pay of $40.25 million, Smith-Njigba’s salary surpasses the previous high for a wide receiver, which was Ja’Marr Chase’s contract with the Cincinnati Bengals. After Chase, Justin Jefferson ($35 million), CeeDee Lamb ($34 million), DK Metcalf ($33 million), and Garrett Wilson ($32.5 million) are the receivers with the next-highest average yearly value.
