Stephen A. Smith has been wielding freedom more than ever to express his opinions.
Jason Whitlock, Smith’s longstanding rival and former ESPN coworker, claims he is a phony. Whitlock, who has gotten into arguments with a number of sports figures, appeared on the “4th and 1” podcast with former NFL MVP Cam Newton to explain why he believes so about Smith.
Without wasting any time, Newton asked the following dramatic question: “What’s your issue with Stephen A. Smith?”
Whitlock told: “He’s a fraud. Lied about his whole college basketball career … and ESPN just installed him in that seat.”
Whitlock had previously brought up Smith’s deception regarding his basketball career. Smith accused Drake Maye, the quarterback for the New England Patriots, of lying in November when he said he didn’t know the aforementioned Newton was on “First Take” since he doesn’t watch it.
