Anthony Kazmierczak (Hennepin County Jail)
The man charged with attacking Rep. Ilhan Omar during a town hall meeting earlier this year has now pleaded guilty.
Anthony Kazmierczak was charged in federal court after prosecutors say he sprayed the Minnesota congressional representative with apple cider vinegar back in January. He formally pleaded guilty on Thursday to assaulting and interfering with a U.S. officer.
Hennepin County prosecutors also charged him with felony terroristic threats and fifth-degree assault.
Prosecutors said that Kazmierczak charged at Omar and squirted a brownish-orange liquid at her with a syringe. A hazmat team later identified the liquid as apple cider vinegar and water.

Omar wasn’t hurt and later posted on social media, “I’m ok. I’m a survivor so this small agitator isn’t going to intimidate me from doing my work. I don’t let bullies win. Grateful to my incredible constituents who rallied behind me. Minnesota strong.”
Once the federal case is finished, Hennepin County prosecutors are expected to pursue the state case against Kazmierczak.
A sentencing date in his federal case hasn’t yet been set.
