A person is dead after a crash on the highway in St. Paul Park on Friday afternoon.
Cottage Grove authorities responded to a crash on Highway 61 between 70th Street and 80th Street.
Minnesota State Patrol later said that at 12:01 p.m., a BMW 328 was going north on Highway 61 when it hit a Mitsubishi Mirage that entered the lane of traffic from the right shoulder.
The driver of the Mitsubishi, 80-year-old Sandra Lee Brunell, died as a result of the crash. State Patrol says the 71-year-old man driving the BMW was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Highway 61 between 80th Street and County Road 22/70th Street/Summit Avenue was reduced to one lane following the crash and has since reopened.
