A warrant has been issued for a man charged with attempted murder after he allegedly fired a gun into his ex-girlfriend’s apartment.
Dwayne Garner, 36, is wanted for multiple felony charges, including illegal possession of a firearm, second-degree assault, and attempted second-degree murder.
The charges stem from a Thursday night shooting when police were called to a first-floor apartment unit in Minnetonka. Inside, officers found a woman who was bleeding from a graze wound after multiple shots were fired through her window.
Court documents state that one hour before the shooting, the woman had been FaceTiming Garner, who she identified as her ex-boyfriend, with whom she had an ongoing dispute.
The woman began filming their conversation with her second phone, after which Garner reportedly hung up when he noticed.
Around 6:20 p.m., the woman said she was lying on her stomach on her bed when she heard gunfire and felt pain in her buttocks. She rolled onto the floor and called 911.
Witnesses later told police they had seen a man with short dreads, a red and white letter jacket, and a gun run into a townhome after the gunfire ended. Witnesses said they then saw the man, now without the letter jacket, get into a vehicle without a license plate, which then drove off.
The woman told police that Garner had recently changed his hairstyle to a new braided style and had been wearing a red-and-white letter jacket during their FaceTime call.
Due to past convictions, Garner is not allowed to possess a firearm.
At this time, court documents state that Gardner has not been arrested and that his whereabouts are unknown.
