A man is in custody after allegedly pointing a long gun at a school bus in Faribault on Thursday morning.
The Faribault Police Department said officers responded to the 200 block of Eighth Street Northwest around 7:42 a.m. after a school bus aide reported that a man had walked up the school bus and pointed what looked like a long gun.
The bus was on its way to Roosevelt Early Learning Center. Several students, a bus aide and the bus driver were on board at the time of the incident, according to Faribault police.
School bus staff told police the man had come out of a home at 228 Eighth Street Northwest, which law enforcement then surrounded while trying to get in contact with the suspect and obtain a search warrant for the home, police said.
Just after 9 a.m., the 38-year-old suspect came out of the house and tried to walk away. He was taken into custody without incident, the police department said, adding that he may face charges of felony terroristic threats.
The Faribault School District and Discovery School were placed on “soft lockdown” during the incident, police said.
The incident is under investigation.
