Teyana Taylor<\/a> may be every college professor’s dream student after she revealed how she maintains straight A’s in her culinary courses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the red carpet of the 83rd annual Golden Globes<\/a>, which premiered on Sunday, Jan. 11, from the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles, the One Battle After Another <\/em><\/a>star, 35, spoke candidly about getting nervous about completing her homework on time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I do be scared when I be like ‘Oh my God, oh my God. My deadline is on Tuesday. I gotta have my meal in by Tuesday,” she explained when asked if she’s scared of doing anything, as she conquers music, creative direction, film,\u00a0television<\/a>,\u00a0dancing<\/a>,\u00a0and now, culinary school. “But I spoke to my chef yesterday, and he’s giving me an extension so I can turn my assignment in on Thursday.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Taylor expressed that her school, Auguste Escoffier School of Culinary Arts<\/a>, has been “very supportive” of her balancing her career and coursework. “Shoutout Escoffier,” she added. “They’ve been very, very supportive of me.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The studious star went on to say that she normally turns her work in early, but explained that the Golden Globes, where she won for Best Supporting Actress in Any Motion Picture<\/a> for her role in One Battle After Another<\/em><\/a>, “was crazy,” scheduling-wise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I was like, ‘Chef, this is when the double life is kicking in,'” she recalled, “because I’m a straight-A student and I want to keep it that way. And I don’t want to make any excuses. I don’t want no breaks, because you know, you could take a semester off. I don’t want to do none of that, like, just give me a couple extra days.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In her acceptance speech, Taylor thanked her parents, her “tribe” of loved ones, and\u00a0One Battle<\/em>\u00a0director Paul Thomas Anderson.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“To Paul ‘Let ‘Em Cook’ Thomas Anderson, thank you for your vision, your trust, and your brilliance,” she said. “My gratitude is endless. I love you, we love you, and thank you so much for holding space for me and our entire cast.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She ended her tearful remarks by speaking to “my Brown sisters and little Brown girls watching tonight.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Our softness is not a liability. Our depth is not too much. Our light does not need permission to shine,” said Taylor. “We belong in every room we walk into. Our voices matter, and our dreams deserve space.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Taylor, who shares daughters Junie, 9, and Rue, 5<\/a>, with ex-husband Iman Shumpert<\/a>, announced the addition to her growing resume in June on social media with a heartfelt caption and video with her eldest daughter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a video featuring Junie, Taylor wore a chef’s hat and apron with the school’s uniform shirt and danced to GloRilla’s hit song “Let Her Cook.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the heartwarming caption, she wrote, “Cooking and baking have always been more than just hobbies for me; they\u2019ve been my passion, my peace, my therapy…Through every twist and turn in my life and career, the kitchen has been a safe space…No matter how hectic life gets, I find comfort in the rhythm of it all \u2014 the chopping, the stirring, the creating.
