Minneapolis police say they have identified and arrested a suspect believed to have killed a man in Triangle Park last week<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rex Allen Basswood Jr., 36, has been charged with second-degree murder after investigators identified him as an individual captured on camera stabbing a man and ultimately killing him on May 7.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The attack was recorded around 3 a.m., but the aftermath of the stabbing was not discovered until 9:48 a.m., when a walker inside Triangle Park found the deceased man and called 911.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Surveillance video obtained by police was reportedly able to capture the stabbing, showing the suspect speaking to another person around 3:05 a.m. inside the park. After speaking with this person, the suspect, who court documents claim is Basswood, walks to the east side of the victim and steps out of the camera\u2019s view.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Court documents said the victim was seen turning his head as the suspect walked toward him and continued to look at the suspect, until Basswood returned into view of the camera and appears to stab the man twice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Basswood then left the area and was seen on other surveillance cameras walking away and entering his apartment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After reviewing his movements from hours before the stabbing, court documents state investigators determined the suspect was Basswood, in part due to his tattoo right below his right eye.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Police later arrested Basswood at his apartment unit on Monday. During a search, court documents said officers found matching clothes to the suspect in the park and two knives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
