Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty on Friday asked the public to send her office videos, photos, and any other information about the shooting of Renee Macklin Good. She also contradicted Vice President JD Vance\u2019s assertion that the ICE agent who shot and killed Macklin Good has total immunity from prosecution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Federal authorities have made it clear that state investigators will not be involved in the probe. The FBI ended plans for a joint investigation with the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension. BCA officials were not present on Friday morning as Moriarty and Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison spoke to reporters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Moriarty said any potential evidence sent to her office would be shared with the BCA, calling her request \u201can attempt to preserve the evidence that is still out there\u201d and not a critique of the FBI.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She said her office had established a secure place on the Hennepin County Attorney\u2019s Office website to send information.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Moriarty said it was \u201cpremature\u201d to speak about what state and local officials might do with any information that comes their way. \u201cWe don\u2019t know what we\u2019re going to get.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Asked about Vance\u2019s assertion that the agent who shot Macklin Good had complete immunity from prosecution, Moriarty said: \u201cI can say the ICE officer does not have complete immunity here.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The state does not have Macklin Good’s vehicle, any of the forensic evidence, or any interviews with officers. That\u2019s all under FBI control, and federal agents would need to share that information. Without access to that evidence, it would be unlikely that the Hennepin County Attorney\u2019s Office orthe Minnesota Attorney General\u2019s Office would be in a position to consider charges<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
