Led by writer and executive producer Wyle in the role of Dr. Michael Robinavitch, who will be back for Season 2, the ensemble cast also includes Katherine LaNasa as Dana Evans, Taylor Dearden as Dr. Melissa King, Patrick Ball as Dr. Frank Langdon, Isa Briones as Dr. Trinity Santos, Fiona Dourif as Dr. Cassie McKay, Supriya Ganesh as Dr. Samira Mohan, Shabana Azeez as Dr. Victoria Javadi, Gerran Howell as Dr. Dennis Whitaker and guest star Shawn Hatosy as Dr. Jack Abbot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yes, Lawrence Robinson will portray a charming patient, Brian Hancock, who makes the most of his soccer injury as a meet cute with one of the doctors. Deadline broke the news of Robinson\u2019s casting in the recurring role.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sepideh Moafi has also joined Season 2 as an attending physician in emergency medicine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Charles Baker, Irene Choi, La\u00ebtitia Hollard, and Lucas Iverson have also joined the recurring cast, Deadline reported exclusively. Deadline also broke the news of Zack Morris\u2019 (Goosebumps) casting in a recurring role.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Four recurring guest stars were added to Season 2 in December: Brittany Allen (The Boys, Dexter: Original Sin), Bonita Friedericy (A Friend of the Family, Chicago Med), Taylor Handley (Mayor of Kingstown, Griselda), and Jeff Kober (The Walking Dead, Sons of Anarchy).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Deadline also exclusively broke the news of Meta Golding, Luke Tennie, Christopher Thornton, and Travis Van Winkle joining Season 2 in December.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Allen will play an Emergency Department patient, Roxie Hamler. Friedericy will play a woman visiting a patient in the Emergency Department, Cora Wilkinds. Handley is Paul Hamler, husband of an Emergency Department patient. And Kober will play motorcycle engineer Duke, who goes way back with the doctors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What will Season 2 of The Pitt<\/em> be about?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Season 2 will pick up 10 months after the final hour of Season 1, which concluded April 10. Showrunner R. Scott Gemmill hinted that Season 2 will take place over Fourth of July weekend during a day-long shift, which will likely see all kinds of ER patients.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOur job is not to outdo ourselves. Our job is to do ourselves. So think about what worked the first time and do it again. Don\u2019t think about raising a bar on yourself. You don\u2019t have to play by the rules we\u2019ve established. Be faithful to the characters. We introduce the world to take the story that much further. So that\u2019s kind of what our discipline\u2019s been,\u201d Wyle told Deadline. \u201cThere are exciting things that will happen, but it shouldn\u2019t feel like we need to come out the gate with a bang to get attention. I think we\u2019ll just tell another story.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gemmill also teased that Wyle\u2019s character Dr. \u201cRobby\u201d Robinavitch will acknowledge that he needs help regarding his mental health in Season 2. A main thread in Season 1 was Robby\u2019s inability to cope with his mentor\u2019s death during the pandemic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gemmill also teased that Wyle\u2019s character Dr. \u201cRobby\u201d Robinavitch will acknowledge that he needs help regarding his mental health in Season 2. A main thread in Season 1 was Robby\u2019s inability to cope with his mentor\u2019s death during the pandemic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cPart of \u2026 season 2 is seeing Dr. Robby acknowledge that he needs help, that he hasn\u2019t gotten the help he needs, and to encourage his coworkers to seek help to take away that stigma,\u201d said Gemmill at an HRTS discussion in July. \u201cOne of the movements afoot is to make a mental health check sort of mandatory for healthcare workers. And that way, if everyone has to do it, then that takes away the stigma. So doctors who do have a problem or who fall off, whether through addictions, as an example, there are programs that will help them get help and get back to becoming a doctor again.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gemill also mentioned Patrick Ball\u2019s Dr. Langdon\u2019s sobriety journey as a factor in the time jump between seasons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Who else is behind The Pitt<\/em>?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

R. Scott Gemmill created the series, which is produced by John Wells. The medical drama is produced by John Wells Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television \u2014 where JWP is under an overall deal. EPs are Wyle, Wells, JWP\u2019s Erin Jontow, Michael Hissrich and Simran Baidwan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
