So apparently, Luka Doncic woke up and chose violence. Not mild violence, not “let me get a triple-double” violence. We’re talking full-on, scoreboard-abusing, feelings-hurt, 60-point chaos.
And unfortunately for the Miami Heat, they were the chosen victims.
The Los Angeles Lakers? They were just there enjoying the show. Front row seats, popcorn energy, probably wondering if they should even run plays or just keep handing Luka the ball and letting him cook.
Now enter Bam Adebayo, who had the tough job of explaining this basketball crime scene after the game, because how do you even break that down?
Speaking to reporters after the loss, Adebayo explained that even for someone as locked in as Dončić was that it’s “not easy to get 80.”
While there is some shading of the people who criticized Adebayo’s scoring output against the Washington Wizards on March 10, the main point stands because Dončić was on a ridiculous heater from the tip and didn’t come all that close to 80.
Thursday night also continued the extended heater Dončić has been on to help the Lakers extend their winning streak to eight.
During this eight-game run, Dončić is averaging 40.9 points on 50.2 percent shooting with 8.9 rebounds and 7.4 assists per contest. He has four 40-point outings, including in each of the last two games.
The Lakers (45-25) have moved a season-high 20 games over .500 and extended their lead for the No. 3 seed in the Western Conference to two games.
At the end of the day, Bam said what he felt was good but the scoreboard? The scoreboard was loud.
So yes, if you missed the game, just know this: Luka didn’t just beat the Heat, he cooked them, plated it nicely, and served it with zero apologies.
